GOVERNOR’S AIDE SHARES LOVE AT XMAS

The Personal Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Media, Revd. Richard Peters has availed his community a feel of the Governor’s generosity on the occasion of the season by sharing love with them.

Revd. Peters who is an indigene of Ikot Okubo Offot in Uyo Local Government Area, shared food items to the community. The Personal Assistant also announced the sponsorship of 6 indigenes of the area to be trained on skills of their choice, with the assurances of start-up kits and funds on completion.

Speaking to his kinsmen on the occasion of the Ikot Okubo Offot Youth Association (IKOYA) Day over the weekend, the clergyman noted that his donation was borne out of his love and willingness to share with them no matter how little he could afford.

While cautioning them on refraining from vices such as cultism, criminality and the likes which are capable of truncating their future, the Governor’s aide made reference to the speech given by the State Governor on Christmas Day and reiterated the State Chief Executive’s commitment to the ideals of his 8-point agenda.

He stressed the need for the youths to align themselves with Governor Emmanuel’s line of thought for them in the area of agricultural and entrepreneurial development, adding that this will pay with time.

Responding on the occasion, the Village Head-elect of Ikot Okubo Offot, Chief Monday Utuk thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for the privilege of having Revd. Peters serve under his administration. He noted that the community give-back by political appointees was one of the blessings of democracy and thanked the Personal Assistant for being honest to this cause. He called on the people to continue in support for the government by embracing peace and remaining law abiding, also charging them on the dignity of labour and self-enterprise.

The Ikot Okubo Offot Day is a get-together of indigenes of the Village held yearly to celebrate and renew family/community ties.
