GOV. EMMANUEL GIVES SUCCOUR TO STREET CHILDREN IN A’IBOM

…picks them from the street, enrols them in school

In his avowed determination towards charting a new course for the little children and giving them a sense of belonging in Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday took the popular street children addressed as ‘Ndito Skolombo’ off the street of Uyo.

Governor Emmanuel who acknowledged the potentials of those little children to have a better standard of living reiterated the government readiness and support to continue to project the interest of the fast growing wards for the best interest of the state and society in general as they are the future leaders of the state.

“We have endeavoured to provide a conducive learning environment complete with tools that will enhance, deepen and expand the frontiers of knowledge. We are also maintaining rigorous training of teachers to bring them up to speed with modern approaches to teaching.

“We have invested huge resources in ensuring that our children are made ready for the globalized world of the 21 Century where skills, talents, passion, ability to think outside the box and sharp execution of tasks are the underlying requirements for success”. He said.

Represented by the immediate past Vice Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Otuekong Hon. Ukai Udeme Emmanuel also noted that this is an opportunity to urge our children to stay away from anti-social tendencies such as cultism, and rather focus on their education and other ennobling pursuits.
