….Akan Okon Urges Forum of Village Council Chairmen

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr Akan Okon , tasked members of the Forum of Village Council Chairmen, Akwa Ibom State, to promote peace and security in their communities.

The Commissioner, who stated this on Thursday when the executive members of the forum paid him a courtesy call in his office, urged the forum to be steadfast, united and continually synergize for the development of its people and for the progress of Akwa Ibom State.

Mr Okon, said that the visit will establish a strong and harmonious working relationship between the state government and the village council chairmen.

The Economic Development helmsman appreciated Governor Udom Emmanuel for the atmosphere of peace experience in the state, through community policing.

He commended the contributions of the village council chairmen for their effort and support for the peace and security achieved across the various villages in the state.
He also reiterated the commitment of government towards the attainment of a better society for her citizens.

Mr Okon urged the group to keep supporting the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Speaking on behalf of the forum, the Chairman, Obong Daniel Utuk, expressed joy for the audience granted them by the Commissioner and promised to support the fight against crime in the state through the machinery of community policing put in place by the government.

Obong Utuk thanked the Commissioner for his commitment and passion to the development of the economic sector of the state, especially the recent approval from the federal government for the Ibom Deep Seaport project.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the forum, Obong Akaninyene Edem and the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Timaro Offong pledged the willingness and commitment of the forum in ensuring that there is peace and security in their communities.

Earlier in his welcome address the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Effiong Ekpenyong, thanked the group for the visit and said that it will go along way in strengthening the relationship between the state and those at the grassroot level.

In attendance were other executive members of the Forum of Village Council Chairmen, Akwa Ibom State.
