UYO LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNDERTAKES CLEAN UP EXERCISE

…as chairman house committee on Environment commends Council Boss, AKSEPWMA Chairman, council staff, ors for active participation

Towards having a green, healthy and clean environment for investment and other developmental activities to thrive in the state, Uyo Local Government Council today joined the state wide February monthly sanitation exercise within the Uyo metropolitan city.

Speaking with newsmen during the exercise, The Chairman House Committee On Education/Environmental Affairs and Related Matters and councillor representing Uyo Urban Ward 1, Hon. Stella Archibong described the exercise as uncommon and a welcome development brought to fore by the administration of Hon. Uwemedimo Udo, the Executive Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area first in the history of the area.

Hon. Stella Archibong stated that the clean up exercise was in line with the avowed commitment and determination of His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel’s drive towards keeping Akwa Ibom State and her environs clean which will attract investors from all nooks and crannies of the world to invest in the state and will enhance growth and development, promotes wealth creation with an enabling environment for the people to live comfortably.

She also stated that Uyo Local Government Council is poised most particularly under her watch as the Chairman House Committee On Environment to make the area clean, neat and conducive for residence to live comfortably without any hesitation which will be a point of reference to other Local Government Areas and States in the country to emulate.

She however extends gratitude to the Executive Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Hon. Uwemedimo Udo for his unwavering support during and after the exercise to be successful while also applauding the Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency ((AKSEPWMA), Hon. Prince Ikim for the agencies unflinching solidarity and partnership to aid the clean up exercise.

Hon. Stella Archibong also thanked the Leader of Council and member representing Etoi Ward 5, Hon. Ubong Etim, all the councilors who came out to participate in the exercise, Uyo Local Government Council staff, Passion 94.5 FM and indeed all and sundry who played prominent roles in making the sanitation exercise a huge success while urging the people to cooperate with the relevant agencies in waste management to always keep their environment and surrounding clean as cleanliness they say is next to Godliness.
