USDMPF Makes Stance – Not Aligning with Governorship Aspirants until Objective for Suitable Candidate is Met

…Insists on Agenda Setting, Candidate’s Political Party’s Affiliation not Determinant for Support

The Uyo Senatorial District Media Practitioners’ Forum, USDMPF has vehemently stated her none alignment with any Governorship Aspirant in view of the forthcoming 2023 gubernatorial election.

The Forum officially made its stance known during a Press Conference with some News Reporters in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital on Thursday, 5th August, 2021.

The Chairman of USDMPF, Ofonimeh Isong said “the Forum will continue to set agenda for all stakeholders on the best way forward, not until an objective of identifying the most suitable candidate is met.

He said that “the Forum is poised and determined to interface with all stakeholders with a view to identifying, promoting and rallying support for the best candidate from Uyo Senatorial Dictrict to succeed Governor Udom Emmanuel come 2023”.

The Uyo Senatorial District Media Practitioners’ Forum upheld that ‘an-about-to-emerge-candidate’s membership with any political party is not a determinant for their support but credibility, value, good intentions for the State among others end their backing for the candidate. 

Isong in his press statement, “condemned media attacks on religious leaders who spoke against cultism. No aspirant should condone or encourage cultism, as any who fails to condemn it, has a moral question before the electorates”, he warned. 

He encouraged electorates to take advantage of the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission’s voter’s registration to enable them exercise their franchise during the 2023 elections. He also called on political office holders at State and National levels to think Akwa Ibom first and channel their powers into attracting development into the State. 

The Forum commended the Governor, Udom Emmanuel for his superior performance and milestone achievements across various sectors thus, passing a vote of confidence on him.

According to the Chairman, “Uyo Senatorial District Media Practitioners Forum is a duly registered independent amalgam of media professionals including Newspaper and Online Media Publishers, Electronic Media Professionals, Reporters from sundry media establishments and other categories of media workers of Uyo Senatorial District extraction. The body was formed to make advocacy for and project the interests of the Senatorial District and currently, is particularly focused on the 2023 Governorship elections, zoned to Uyo Senatorial District”.
